The race will be a fight to the death finish, and that’s not even the actual campaign.

Barrett

The name’s Barrett Callahan. Yeah, that Barrett Callahan—the one the press dubbed “Bare” after those naked sexting pictures surfaced. At twenty-five, I was armed with an MBA from Harvard, an executive position at my father’s Fortune 500 company, a penthouse, and a different piece of delectable eye candy in my bed every weekend. I had a life most men dreamed of. But then my father decided to run for president, and my playboy lifestyle became a liability to his campaign that was built on family values. My “makeover” comes in the form of a fake fiancée who I don't even get to choose--one who is an uptight, choirgirl acting priss but also sexy-as-hell.

Addison

My latest relationship had gone down in flames, and I was drowning in a sea of student loans when in true Godfather status, James Callahan made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. Seven figures for seven months on the campaign trail pretending to be the adoring fiancée of his son, Barrett. As soon as he won the election, our engagement would be dissolved amicably for the press, I was free to ride off into the sunset a million dollars richer, and because of the NDA, no one would be the wiser. Sure, I’d never met the guy, but I’d been a theater nerd in high school. I could pull off any role from Lady Macbeth to Maria Von Trapp. But that was before I met my fake fiancé—the infuriating, self-absorbed, egotistical, drop-dead-sexy King of the Manwhores.

Hot On Ice Anthology

COURAGE IS…

By Lena Hart

“Courage is doing what you are afraid to do.”

When the opportunity came to be a part of HOT ON ICE anthology, my immediate response was: “YES, I’M IN.” It was immediately followed by: “Um, wait. I know nothing about hockey.”

But that was a lie. If I knew nothing else about hockey, I knew two things: there are sexy men involved and these sexy men are on ice.

So I pushed pass that little thing called anxiety and set out to write a hockey romance—even though I’ve never watched a hockey game in my life. But in writing my first hockey romance, I found that it really isn’t about the game, but the story.

In COURAGE, my story in the Hot On Ice anthology, my hero Mason Courage goes from assistant coach to head coach after his team brings home the championship Cup. But a trophy and promotion quickly loses their appeal when his wife Jules files for divorce.

But Mason is a fighter and still very much in love—and lust—with his wife. He isn’t about to give up on her or his children without a fight. Even if that fight includes a few sessions of marriage counseling.

*insert man groan*

Mason learns, however, that therapy can have its advantages and that includes falling in love with his wife again. So take the journey with him… In COURAGE, you’ll find a devoted husband and a loving wife who both want to make their marriage work, an 8-year-old son infatuated with pandas, and a sassy 5-year-old daughter with a big imagination.

For my first sports romance, I have to say I enjoyed writing Mason and Jules second chance at love. Do I see a sports romance series in my future? Hmm, maybe…

Who am I kidding? Of course they’ll be a series!

*insert evil laughter*

P.S. don’t forget to join my Reader Group (https://goo.gl/gkYrlL) so you can catch the first 3 chapters of COURAGE, which I plan to “leak” exclusively to my groupies March 1st. ;)

"Good Reads for a Good Cause" blog tour

GOOD READS FOR A GOOD CAUSE

PHONE CALL HOME
By Angi Morgan

I remember a phone call from when my oldest child was serving overseas in Kuwait. It’s stuck with me and continually reminds me how our servicemen do their jobs. He joined and shipped off to boot camp two weeks after high school graduation. He wanted to be a Marine from the time he was fourteen and had to research an interesting career for middle school. This is giving away my age, but he’ll be retiring after 20 years soon.

While he was stationed in Kuwait (2002), I knew he was a part of setting up communications for troops. What I didn’t realize (at the time) was that the microwave towers they erected were the only targets their opposition had to aim at. It all hit home on a phone call where he calmly said, “Gotta go. Incoming.”

My son came home unharmed, but many haven’t. As a parent, I know how much you want to help and sometimes it’s impossible to lend anything except love and support. HOMES FOR TROOPS is a way we can all contribute. I’m so glad that HOT ON ICE is donating proceeds to this organization and encourage you to find a way to give back to these men and women who have given so much for our country.

BREAKAWAY BROOKE isn’t a military story. But it is all about family (and HOT hockey players).

Cop turned PI Brooke Henderson is hired on the down-low to keep an eye on Deacon “Tripp” Sanders after his team wins hockey’s biggest title. The gig should be as easy as an empty-net goal (yes, she knows her hockey!). The anonymous letter threatening trouble doesn’t have much merit and the gorgeous hockey phenom is certainly easy on Brooke’s eyes. If only her woo-woo power wasn’t in full swing and instigating trouble. The erotic pheromones she’d learned to hold in check were drawing men’s unwelcome attention…but giving her the perfect cover as a puck bunny.

Brooke might be trying to keep watch from a distance, but everywhere he looks Deacon’s eyes are drawn to the beautiful warrior like a loose puck in front of the net. Despite his annoyance that his family thinks he can’t keep himself out of trouble, can he convince this exquisite protector to stop fighting her erotic powers long enough to play his game?

A sultry novel featuring a brooding NHL player who’s hell on skates—and the no-nonsense woman who forces him to clean up his act.

BLURB:
From the author of the On the Line and Fire on Ice hockey romance series comes a sultry novel featuring a brooding NHL player who’s hell on skates—and the no-nonsense woman who forces him to clean up his act.

Miranda: Even though I’m broke, putting myself through college, and working two jobs, I’m trying to make the best of it. Meanwhile, Jake Birch, hockey’s hottest bad boy, lives in a luxury hotel in downtown Chicago—and still complains about every little thing in his penthouse. But after I tell him off, instead of getting me fired, Jake requests me as his personal housekeeper. Then he starts flirting with me. Only I’m not flirting back . . . at least, I’m trying not to. Did I mention that he’s hockey’s hottest bad boy?

Jake: I’ve met the best woman at the worst possible time. Miranda is the fire to my ice—a sexy, charmingly candid spark who breaks down my walls and reminds me what it’s like to feel again. But I’m being forced to date my team owner’s daughter to keep my job, so I can’t be caught with Miranda. Still, we’re getting closer—until Miranda finds out about my “girlfriend.” And that’s not the only secret I’ve been keeping. But Miranda’s the one I want . . . even if she doesn’t believe me.

REVIEW:

Hooked is the first book that I have read by Brenda Rothert and I loved it!

I really enjoyed reading this sports romance. The story is full of emotion from both of the main characters. You experience moments when it is funny and then sad but overall is a wonderful story.

Miranda Carr is a self supportive strong minded woman. She works as a maid at the Dupont hotel to pay for her college education.

Jake Birch is a hockey player in the NHL. He is renovating his apartment so he is living at the hotel Miranda works at. They meet when she comes to clean his room.

At first Jake seems arrogant and conceded, but as you read the story you see he has a heart of gold. He has just built a wall to protect himself from hurt he has experienced in the past.

It was very nice to see how this relationship progressed from being friends to falling in love. Miranda and Jake help each other heal from their past experiences.

I am looking forward to reading more of Brenda's books!

Synopsis

Markus Reeves is sucking. Big-time. Toiling away on a minor-league hockey team hundreds of miles away from home, he's watching his dreams of an NHL career fade away. Add in the lingering guilt he has over the dramatic demise of his relationship with college girlfriend, Mekena, and he's a mess on and off the ice.

But the family of his heart, the Sinclairs, won't let Markus suffer any longer. When he arrives himself back in Nashville for a trial run on the Assassins, it feels like his life may be making a turn for the better. If only he could get Mekena to forgive him...

Mekena Preston has been hurting since fleeing Nashville following the horror of Markus's betrayal with her sister. Now a professional photographer, Mekena finds herself in the same place at the same time with Markus to celebrate Lucy and Benji Paxton's wedding. Neither of them has been able to move on—and they're starting to wonder if they really want to.

They're headed for a face-off at the altar unless they can confront their past and unearth the truth about what really happened on that fateful night.

Excerpt

Watching as Elli crossed the ice, saying hi to everyone she passed, Mekena knew she had to go. Standing, she wobbled a lot, but she still made it to the entry to the ice. She could do this. It wasn’t that hard. Just like walking—on water. No big deal.
Oh, God, she was going to die, and everyone was going to see it.
Swallowing hard, she stepped out on the ice and figured she could ride the side of the boards to him. Elli was already there, gushing over the kids and kissing all over the guy Mekena assumed was her nephew. And holy hot genes. Dark hair, bright blue eyes, and a jawbone that could slice the ice. He was beautiful, just like his uncle and his momma. Tall, too, and thick. Obviously a hockey player. That should have given her a little more confidence to skate over there, but instead, her fingers dug into the siding as she slowly made her way toward them.
When Elli looked up, Mekena let go of the sides and waved. “I’m a little slow. I’m coming!”
Elli said something to Ryan, whose eyes lit up when he looked over at her. As he detangled himself from the kids that were trying to climb him like a wall, she figured he was coming to help.
Oh, no, that was embarrassing.
No, she could skate. She had it!
Letting go of the siding, she went with ease. And at first, things were good. She was skating! But as well as it was going, it suddenly went very bad. She felt her knee bend funny and then her body start to fall. And as the ice came into view, she let out a cry, waiting for the ice to break not only her glasses but her nose too. Maybe her teeth.
But she didn’t fall.
No, instead, someone had her by her hips, pulling her up and to her feet.
“Whoa there, girlie. I thought you knew what you were doing?”
Markus.
Everything inside her went hot. Not from embarrassment but from pure, burning desire. Trying to catch her breath, she looked up at him, his eyes so dark, his mouth so close to her cheek as he smiled.
Crap. Crap on a cracker.
“Markus.”
“Yup, it’s me,” he said, grinning as he stood her on her feet. “Saving your life.”

About The Author

My name is Toni Aleo and I’m a total dork.
I am a wife, mother of two and a bulldog, and also a hopeless romantic.
I am the biggest Shea Weber fan ever, and can be found during hockey season with my nose pressed against the Bridgestone Arena’s glass, watching my Nashville Predators play!
When my nose isn’t pressed against the glass, I enjoy going to my husband and son’s hockey games, my daughter’s dance competition, hanging with my best friends, taking pictures, scrapbooking, and reading the latest romance novel.
I have a slight Disney and Harry Potter obsession, I love things that sparkle, I love the color pink, I might have been a Disney Princess in a past life… probably Belle.
… and did I mention I love hockey?
